Ice Cream Truck Driver

How would you like to be one of our Ice Cream Truck Drivers?

Your Role

Are you looking for a full-time seasonal job that lets you meet new people and make them smile?

As an ice cream truck driver:

• You'll drive our ice cream truck around the greater Charlotte area! You'll visit neighborhoods, events, and more to hand out free ice cream to people.
• You'll keep the ice cream truck looking great. Our ice cream truck is super cute and a lot of people love it! But to keep it looking good takes some work. You'll wash the truck, sweep the inside, and generally keep things tidy.
• You'll make sure we don't run out of ice cream! In order to keep putting smiles on people's faces, we gotta have enough ice cream. Sometimes you may need to run to the store to stock up on ice cream before an event.
• You'll work some evenings and some weekends. There are some events in our service area we wanna make sure to visit with the ice cream truck, and events tend to be on evenings or weekends. You're flexible and ready for a good time either way!

• You're a self-starter who's motivated by achievements. You've got great work ethic and always strive to make things happen!
• You've never met a stranger. You're comfortable talking to anyone, but you also know when it's time to wrap up a conversation and get to work.
• You're patient (and like kids!). When you drive an ice cream truck, it's naturally gonna attract a lot of kids! You're comfortable with the chaos of a bunch of kids trying to pick what kind of ice cream they want. Sometimes, you'll meet a kid that's just not in a good mood, but you don't let that get to you! You know how to keep your cool and work to make people smile.
• Efficiency is important to you. The Morris-Jenkins ice cream truck is popular! Sometimes, we end up with a long line of people wanting free ice cream (can you blame them?). You can manage the crowd well and get a lot of people their treats quickly.
• You've got a clean driving record. Your friends might even joke you're "too safe" when you drive (we don't believe there's any such thing!). Part of the interview process for this job includes a driving test, but that doesn't worry you!
• You love summer weather! Summers in the Carolinas can get really hot, and our ice cream truck is no exception. You love sunshine and summer weather and would rather be hot than cold any day!

We proudly serve the following cities: Ballantyne, Belmont, Charlotte, Clover, Concord, Cornelius, Davidson, Denver, Fort Mill, Gastonia, Huntersville, Indian Trail, Kannapolis, Lake Norman, Matthews, Mint Hill, Monroe, Mooresville, Mount Holly, Pineville, Rock Hill, and Waxhaw. Charlotte is located in Mecklenburg County, but Morris-Jenkins also services Gaston county, Cabarrus county, Rowan county, Union county, Iredell county, and York county (South Carolina).

Duties & Responsibilities

• Driving ice cream truck around the community, neighborhoods, and events
• Giving out free ice cream
• Smiling, waving, and interacting with the public, if approached
• All other duties and responsibilities, as assigned by supervisor/manager

Minimum Qualifications

• Prior experience driving large commercial vehicles
• Valid Drivers license with a pristine driving record
• Friendly, approachable, and outgoing personality
• High level of maturity and responsibility
• Excellent verbal communication skills; fluent in the English language
• Alignment & commitment to company values (honesty, integrity, fairness, and respect)
• High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Qualifications

• Strong familiarity with places within the greater Charlotte area and the towns and cities surrounding it.
• Prior basic logistics experience
• Prior customer service experience
• CDL
