Cardiac Intensivist (Medical CICU Specialist)Sands Constellation Heart & Vascular InstituteRochester Regional Health | Rochester General HospitalRochester, New YorkRedefine Cardiac Critical Care with Rochester Regional HealthThe Sands Constellation Heart & Vascular Institute at Rochester General Hospital is seeking a highly skilled Cardiac Intensivist to join our growing multidisciplinary cardiovascular critical care team within a tertiary care cardiac program.This physician will play an integral role in the management of high-acuity cardiac patients within a dedicated Medical Cardiac Intensive Care Unit (CICU), working collaboratively with Advanced Heart Failure, Interventional Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, and Electrophysiology specialists.The ideal candidate is passionate about complex cardiovascular critical care and thrives in a collaborative, high-performing environment focused on innovation, clinical excellence, and multidisciplinary patient management.Position HighlightsDedicated Medical Cardiac ICU practiceCollaborative multidisciplinary shock team modelDirect involvement in advanced heart failure and cardiogenic shock managementExposure to advanced mechanical circulatory support (MCS)Predictable 7-on / 7-off schedule supporting work-life balanceOpportunity to teach and mentor Cardiology fellows and Internal Medicine house staffTertiary care cardiovascular environment with growing cardiac critical care servicesClinical ResponsibilitiesThe Cardiac Intensivist will provide comprehensive critical care management for patients with complex cardiovascular disease, including:Cardiogenic shockAcute decompensated heart failureAcute coronary syndromesSevere arrhythmiasHemodynamic instability and multisystem critical illnessAdditional responsibilities include:Co-managing critically ill cardiovascular patients alongside Advanced Heart Failure specialistsParticipating as a core member of the multidisciplinary shock response teamManaging advanced temporary and durable mechanical circulatory support devices, including Impella and LVAD supportSupervising and teaching Cardiology fellows, residents, and multidisciplinary clinical teamsPerforming and supervising bedside critical care procedures, including:Central venous catheter placementArterial line placementPulmonary artery catheterizationIntubationBronchoscopySchedule & Practice Structure7 days on / 7 days off rotating scheduleDedicated CICU service structureDaily collaboration with Cardiology fellows and resident physiciansFocused inpatient critical care responsibilitiesQualificationsMD or DO from an accredited medical schoolBoard Certified or Board Eligible in Internal Medicine, Anesthesiology, or Emergency MedicineCompletion of fellowship training in Critical Care Medicine or combined Cardiology/Critical Care trainingEligible for or currently holding an unrestricted New York State medical licensePrior experience in a high-acuity Cardiac or Cardiothoracic ICU environment preferredRochester Regional HealthRochester Regional Health is an integrated health services organization serving patients across Western and Central New York, the Finger Lakes, and beyond.
