Job Description

Riverside is seeking an experienced, highly motivated and detail-oriented Property Accountant to join our team. This position is an in-office position and will play a crucial role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and maintaining the financial health of a portfolio of commercial properties. The Property Accountant will have the opportunity to work with a diverse range of properties and collaborate with cross-functional teams, making this position a vital part of our organization. 

Job Summary:

This position is responsible for managing financial records and transactions related to real estate properties. This role involves preparing financial statements and ensuring compliance with accounting regulations. Property accountants also handle AP/AR, reconcile bank statements, and assist in financial reporting for property management companies or real estate investors. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and proficiency in accounting software are essential for success in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

• Manage and reconcile general ledger accounts, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Ensure that invoices are properly coded and processed in a timely manner.
• Responsible for maintaining accounts receivables ledgers for assigned properties.
• Responsible for rent collection, managing late fees, and default process in conjunction with the Property Managers.
• Process and analyze property transactions, including AP and AR entries; maintain appropriate supporting documentation.
• Review and analyze property financials, identifying any variances or discrepancies.
• Work closely with Property Managers to ensure property level transactions are accounted for accurately and variances to budget are fully explained as necessary.
• Provide financial analysis and reporting to management, highlighting key insights and recommendations.
• Perform monthly bank reconciliations and resolve any discrepancies in a timely manner.
• Assist in the preparation of monthly and quarterly operating and financial reports in conjunction with the Property Managers.

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting.
• Minimum of 3 years of experience as a in accounting, preferably in the property management industry.
• Familiarity with real estate accounting principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software such as Yardi or other property management platforms.
• Advanced Excel skills, including the ability to create and manipulate complex spreadsheets.
• Effective communication skills are required for collaborating with property managers and stakeholders.
• Attention to detail and ability to prioritize and manage multiple deadlines.
• Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
