Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Nursing Specialty: PCU Float Duration: 13 Weeks Shift: Night Hours per Shift: 12 Experience: 2 Years Experience Required License: Current Nursing License Certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS Must-Have: Previous Charge and Teaching Client Experience preferred. First-timers accepted: Yes. Holiday shifts and Charge RN assignments as needed per unit. Weekend requirement: 8 weekend shifts in a 6-week schedule period, combination of Friday/Saturday/Sunday. Description: The position requires a Registered Nurse in a PCU specialty. Shifts are for 13 weeks, three 12-hour shifts per week. Ratios are 1:5. Previous charge experience is preferred. Candidate must have prior experience in both teaching and charge hospital settings. Work settings include MS/Tele, Telemetry, Cardiac Telemetry, ER Holding, Neuro Stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown. Candidates must possess skills in cardiac monitoring and emergency response. Interpretation and management of dysrhythmias are essential. Telemetry on the unit requires experience in remote monitoring as well. Candidates will support cardiovascular procedures. Experience in post cardiac care, angiograms, post MI, and pre/post cardiac surgery is important. Knowledge of IV insulin protocols in metabolic/endocrine cases is needed. Experience with feeding tube care and management is necessary. Skills in managing renal failure processes, including pre/post hemodialysis management, are essential. Expertise in IV therapy and phlebotomy is required. Candidates must be able to administer blood products and care for central lines/PICC lines. Familiarity with medication protocols, including heparin and titration of cardiac drips, is necessary. Neurological expertise includes experience with CVA management. Orthopedic knowledge involving peripheral nerve block catheters and total joint replacements is preferred. Skills in managing surgical drains are required. Candidates should be proficient in respiratory management including chest tubes and non-invasive airway management. Wound care and isolation precautions are necessary skills. Experience in oncology, particularly in monitoring chemotherapy, is a plus. Regular floating may be required between departments and units. Availability for a max of 7 days of time off is important. Compliance documentation must be completed prior to the start of the assignment. All compliance training must also be completed as part of the onboarding process.
