Minimum Qualifications High school diploma or equivalent. Previous experience or formal training as a veterinary assistant or in animal care. Basic knowledge of animal handling and safety protocols. Preferred Qualifications Certification as a Veterinary Assistant (e.g., Approved Veterinary Assistant - AVA). Experience with medical record management software. Knowledge of common animal diseases and treatments. CPR and first aid certification for animals. Experience working in a veterinary clinic or animal shelter. Responsibilities Assist veterinary technicians during examinations, treatments, and surgical procedures. Prepare and restrain animals safely and humanely for various medical procedures. Maintain cleanliness and sanitation of examination rooms, surgical areas, and equipment. Monitor and record vital signs and behavior of animals under care. Provide compassionate care and comfort to animals, including feeding, exercising, and grooming as needed. Communicate effectively with pet owners regarding basic care instructions and appointment scheduling. Manage inventory of medical supplies and ensure proper storage and handling. Support administrative tasks such as maintaining patient records and processing payments.
